Lab Rats // Episode 4

This week’s edition of Lab Rats is up and ready to go! This week Andy and Sean show us how to use msconfig in Windows to control what loads when our computers start up. Advanced geeks might think this is a little pedestrian, but speaking as someone who has to wade through slow booting and slow loading computers every day, I can say that msconfig is probably one of the most underrated tools already built into windows. It’s very powerful and very easy to use, and gives you a great deal of control over the performance of your system. It’s definitely worth knowing how to work with. The pair say they can cut your boot time in half by using msconfig properly, and it’ll help you get rid of unwanted spyware and adware that load when your computer starts up, whether you want it to or not. And of course, the kitties make their grand appearances. Head on over and grab it now:

CyberWalker Mondays // Episode 6

This week’s Cyberwalker Mondays has Andy, Mike, and their callers on AM 640 Toronto (640 AM) on The Stafford Show chatting about getting music videos onto your new iPod, and while you’re at it, getting steamier adult content onto them as well, why you would get phished on purpose (as Andy did), why bother with a firewall at all, and free antivirus alternatives. Also, Andy manages to plug Lab Rats, his new net video tech show!

This Week In Tech [TWIT] // Episode 30

And the thirtieth TWIT is in the can! A whole thirty episodes, and no more fitting tribute for the thirtiest episode of a podcast that really put podcasts on the map than to record this week’s TWIT live at the Podcast Expo [ http://podcastexpo.com/ ]! This week’s hosts are Leo Laporte, Steve Gibson, Doug Kaye, and Alex Lindsay, with special guests Don Katz, CEO Audible.com and other podcasters in the biz. TWIT officially gets the “People’s Choice Podcast” award, and wins an awesome microphone for it, and the crew talk up podcasts for a good length of the show, what kinds of podcasts there are and how broad an audience podcasting really appeals to. The crew update us on the Sony rootkit scandal, Yahoo and TiVO’s new deal, and chat about voiceovers, voiceover work, and El Edwards, the famous voice of AOL’s “You’ve got mail!” and “Goodbye,” about his most marketable asset-his voice! [ http://www.makinwavs.com/ ] The video is out at the same time, and links are available in the show notes. For those of you just looking for the audio, the TechTVForever mirror is up and running.
