DiggNation turns 50, and does it in style with a brand new video that’s been released at the same time as the audio version, live from the DiggNation one year party at Beach Chalet in San Francisco. Among the topics covered in front of the live audience this week are the upcoming improvements to Digg, soon not just geekly topics, Google Earth and Warcraft 3 running on a tabletop display, Steve Hawking says humans must go into space, the “Mosquito-” the ringtone that adults supposedly cannot hear but children can, Pirate Bay’s incredible rise in popularity after its shutdown, and more.

Leo rolls out a new Podcast in the TWiT network, this one about technology and biotechnology, medicine and research, and more. The pilot episode discusses protein folding, evolution and research, nanotech structures, and much much more with Dr. Susan Lindquist, member of the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Sciences at MIT. Her leading research in protein folding has increased our understanding of the applications of nanotechnology in biotech and modern genetics and medicine, as well as dieases that involve her work, like Parkinson’s and Huntington’s.

Episode 5, called “Get This Garden Party Started,” features Kelly, whose house is wired for audio and music, but her stereo system stinks and she wants something that’ll give her and her friends a place to hang out and listen to tunes. Becky’s EMTs come in to give her some advice on how to get the beats bumpin on her patio.

Episode 6, called “I Want My Mom TV,” shows us Gina, a busy mom who’s addicted to TV, and wants to be able to catch her favorite shows, but also be there for her kids. Becky’s EMTs storm the place and give Gina the TV makeover of a dream, from top to bottom, helping her get the equipment she needs to be able to veg out in front of the TV, but get up if she has to and not miss all of her favorite shows.

On last week’s final DL.TV, DL.TV turns 70 with a glorious episode highlighting some hot homebrew DIY cellphones, Bill Gates’ announcement that he’ll be leaving Microsoft as Chief Software Architect in 2008, the RIAA announcing that illegal song sharing is “contained,” the Cars videogame that might be better than the movie, new notebook backpacks, and viewer response to recent coverage, along with the importance of backing up your data before your hard drive meets a 20 ton hydraulic press.
