This episdoe of Futures in Biotech brings Dr. Linda Griffith to the table with Leo and Marc Pelletier to talk about tissue engineering; Dr. Griffith is a leader in the field, a field of research that she, and other researchers in the field, hope that eventually will lead to the ability of labs and even hospitals to grow tissues and organs in the lab for replacement based on a patient’s own tissue or needs. Imagine the possibilities; having to have a lung removed due to cancer but being able to grow a new one to replace it; or needing a skin graft but being able to grow that skin to be grafted as opposed to taking it from another part of the body.
