Digital Life TV // Episode 21

This week’s episode of Digital Life is a busy one. First, Kevin Rose is on the show to talk about Digg [ http://digg.com/ ], the social news site, sites that copy Digg, and the venture capital that he’s gotten to expand Digg, how the newest patches from Microsoft fix tidbits that Sony’s rootkit DRM leave behind. Windows Live Local [ http://local.live.com/ ] is up and giving Google Maps a good run for its money, Coca Cola is making Coke Blak, a Coke and Coffee blend that can either keep you awake all night or make you vomit, and the crew answer your viewer questions! All this and more, and the show, which aired last night at 9PM EST/6PM PST, is up and available for download now. Enjoy!

New Podcast: Infected With Martin Sargent // Episodes 1 and 2

A couple of weeks ago, the Revision3 crew quietly released the first episode of a new podcast with one of our favorite TechTV personalities, Martin Sargent! I noticed there was a second episode, and I figured it’s about time to spread the word-let’s get the word out then! Infected, a podcast with Martin Sargent (along with Joey, commonly known as Joey the Intern, and The Gator) resurrects Unscrewed in fine fashion and promises to to take listeners on a guided tour of the most humorous, fascinating, cutting edge, and weirdest content on the web. (I got that from the announcement, I swear.)

Read the announcement here:

The first episode is a laugh riot, talking about everything from Chinese astronauts, and how to make sure you don’t get carjacked. Also, the crew take us on a hilarious history of blogging, all the way back to early America!

TechTVForever.net Has a New Look!

It was a long time in coming, but TechTV Forever needed a face lift, and the time is now! Check out the new digs! We tried to do it in the middle of the night so people didn’t wonder what was going on while viewing the site, but we definitely hope that this is an improvement and definitely more attractive than the old design. We’ll try to sneak some images into the posts and articles from now on too to try and make things a little more dynamic at the same time. Sound good? Look good? Great! Enjoy.

Cheers!

Digital Life TV // Episode 20 and back

Looks like I wasn’t too off-base last week; several episodes of Digital Life TV were posted at the same time essentially this week, so we have a lot of ground to cover! Let’s get started:

Episode 20 discusses some innovative video games and the pushback of the Internet Explorer 7 beta, so IE fans will have to wait for…well…all the features that Firefox already has. Also, Patrick and Robert discuss good RSS readers, why the EFF is suing Sony, and more!

Episode 19 gives us Patrick giving us an excellent rundown of Digital SLR cameras and how much they cost; cheap cell phones are on the way, and how to protect yourself from phishing and test your phishing IQ! Plus a ton of viewer questions!

Episode 18 is a good one too. Patrick and Robert talk about Pandora, [ http://www.pandora.com/ ] the music service, going free, and how cool it is. Toss in some firefox extensions, and some discussion of the power of Digg, and you have yourself a show!

New Podcast: Triangulation // Episode 1

Yet another new podcast from the TWITs; Leo Laporte, John C Dvorak, and Lawrence Lessig all gather around a three-sided table (okay, not really) and discuss the big uproar over Google Print, and their endeavor to archive entire libaries worth of information and create a search service for books in their entirety. One would think this is a good thing, right? Well, some authors are upset, and even more tech pioneers are upset with the authors that are upset, and well-listen to the podcast for all of the details. The very first in a new show, give it a whirl!

CyberWalker Mondays // Episodes 8 and 9

I think Andy snuck in Episode 8 along with Episode 9; but there are two new CyberWalker Mondays up and ready for your enjoyment! So let’s take on each episode individually so you know what you’re getting into, shall we?

In episode 8, Andy discusses his new business venture [ http://books.cyberwalker.com/ ] and the fact that we might be seeing more books from him in the future on all manner of technology topics, and then Andy and Mike get right into it with callers and their live questions. The pair discuss the topics of spyware and rootkits, and talk about how they slow down your system. They also talk about the benefits of using Firefox and how you’ll essentially get no spyware by using it, in contrast to Internet Explorer. Also, they talk a little about the release of the XBox 360, and how even though it’s obviously a gaming console, it makes a great HD home theatre system as well.

In episode 9, Andy and Mike discuss HP’s new technology product line and the changes HP is makng to try and stay relevant, plug Andy’s book business one more time [ http://books.cyberwalker.com/ ] and whether partitioning that brand new huge hard drive is a good idea. This week on Inside the Net, Leo and Amber chat about Flock, the Firefox-based so called “social browser,” that allows quick and immediate access to social networking sites, information, social bookmarking, and integrates web surfing, blogging, flickr, and del.icio.us, all in one little package. If you use those services heavily, it might be worth a try for you, and if you’re like me and just wondering what all of the fuss is about, now’s the time to find out! This Week In Tech [TWIT] // Episode 33

Another TWIT is in the can! This week’s TWIT features brand new swanky microphones and hosts Leo Laporte, Patrick Norton, Robert Heron, Alex Lindsay, and John C. Dvorak. This week the TWITs chat about the veracity of wikipedia and what that might mean for wikipedia in the long run, but does it really matter? Also, music piracy defendants fighting back against the RIAA, hijacking podcasts, and Universal apparently believes it’s illegal to email their employees (yeah, right). Skype does video, Microsoft releases a lightweight photo editing and sharing application that looks like what a lot of people think Windows Vista will look like, and Walt Mossberg goes batty over the new Apple iMacs with the built in iSight. Also, all signs point to Apple releasing intel boxes in January-the question is now just which systems will get the overhaul first. Will RIM have to kill the BlackBerry, and other mysteries like where Apple’s TiVO killer Mac Mini is. New Orleans will get free wi-fi when there are enough people in the city to use it, China is proposing it’s own DVD format, and the US Air Force is trying to invent a phaser. Sound tasty?
