Revision3 Gets a Makeover, Looks Better than Ever!

Screen Shot 2013-03-27 at 7.59.23 AM

Revision3 is looking shinier than ever, thanks to its most recent redesign. It’s amazing to think back to how long we’ve been covering Rev3 shows and all of the TechTV personalities that have come and gone through the years there, but the site has always been a great way to not just find TTV-related personalities and technology topics, but has grown into a great destination for web video and regular video shows of all types and topics, from tech to gaming to general news and comedy.

You can take a peek at the new design above, or just head over to Revision3 to see it in action. We think it looks a lot better!

Revision3 Launches “Revision3 Beta!”

revision3 beta logo

The fine folks at Revision3 have launched a kind of farm-league for new shows to see who’ll be the next big IPTV star and get the opportunity to join the rest of the revision3 network. The shows don’t have to be about technology and they don’t have to be terribly topical or educational, but they definitely have to be interesting!

There are a number of new shows available now, and the Revision3 crew are taking your votes and opinions to decide which of the beta shows will make it into the big leagues. If you’re interested to find out which show will be the next big internet TV sensation, head over and take a look at some of the programming at Revision3 Beta!

Amber MacArthur’s New Show: WebNation!

webnation logo

Brian McKechnie, the man (sometimes) behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the camera!) of CommandN and Bamcat.com, emailed me to inform me of something I’ve been missing, most importantly, Amber MacArthur’s new show on CityTV, WebNation! The show is available as a video podcast, and runs as a 30 min. bi-weekly television show on Citytv in Toronto, Canada. I knew that Amber had left Call for Help for better and brighter things at CityTV, but now her exploits aren’t just available to the lucky viewers that get to see her in Toronto, you can subscribe to the show via iTunes or download it directly from the CityNews website anywhere in the world!

WebNation is already in its 5th episode, and we’ll start tracking it from here out! You can check out the show at the WebNation site at CityNews and download the most recent episode, and check out past episodes! Looking at the breakdown of show topics, it rings a bit like CommandN, but it’s definitely got some good and different stuff. Head over and subscribe now!

If you’re looking for more technology content, I mean several posts a day of great technology news, reviews, gadgets, gear, applications, updates, and more, then I have a couple of blogs that you definitely should add to your bookmarks:

[ Gearlog.com is a gadget blog by geeks, for geeks, with tons of gadgets and gear every day, from robot sharks to RFID protecting wallets. ]

[ AppScout.com is an app blog whose writers scour the web for the coolest sites, best applications, new services, and more. ]

And I’m not just plugging these two because I write for both blogs.

That’s right – if you’re a Gears and Widgets fan, you can catch several posts per day from me at AppScout and Gearlog by heading over there and looking for my name! Read lots, comment often, and enjoy!

net@nite :: Leo and Amber’s New Venture, and the Reinvention of Inside the Net!

Well, it looks like Inside the Net is about to make a change, and it’s looking like it’ll be for the better!

Literally moments after (and in the same blog post) as Leo discussed the future of TWiT and that he was a bit tired and frustrated, he announces the future of Inside the Net, and how the show will be reinvented as an interactive podcast that can be listened to independently every Tuesday, as Inside the Net was, or can be streamed live on Sundays when its recorded! Perhaps the best part of the new show is that listeners can participate as chatters or call-in guests on the show!

Leo’s got more details on the venture, and it looks like it’ll officially replace Inside the Net, which is partially saddening because I really like the interviews and product scoops that Inside the Net has brought up to this point, but here’s hoping we’ll still see those things. Additionally, it can’t really be “Inside the Net with Amber MacArthur” when Amber’s been so busy!

Get the full scoop, and download the client needed to participate in the show at the net@nite site:

CyberWalker Relaunches!

cyberwaker banner

Last week, rather quietly, Andy Walker relaunched the massive tech resource site CyberWalker.com! His own baby, the site had previously been a massive library and reference for technology tips, tricks, how-tos, guides, links to other articles and technical information, all ranging in topics from the Macintosh to Windows, from Linux to networks, from securing your computer to building a new one, from backing up your data to choosing the best formats for backing up your data. The site was massive and expansive, and, according to Andy, needed a refresh to make it easier to get around and to keep it up to snuff.

Well, the site definitely got that refresh! Check out the new digs below (click the image for a larger view):

cyberwalker small

The site has navigable buttons everywhere-breaking down the multitude of content from tools to the Lab Rats video to the software library all at the top of the page. In the middle of the page, you’ll find links taking you directly to computer security topics, protecting your privacy online, tips to help you buy a new computer, what to do with that new computer, and more! Definitely head over and take a look at the site, it looks solid.

The new site looks gorgeous, Andy! Great work!

Undo.tv Pre-Launches!

undotv logo

Undo.TV is up and looks fabulous and energetic! It looks like it has a lot of potential!
The following note appears on the Undo.tv “About Us” page:

Hey there!

Today, the idea of a tech-centric TV network has disappeared from the minds of Hollywood’s elite. Par for the course! Passionate communities are often kept an arm’s length away from their favorite broadcasted content in traditional media circles.

It’s time to undo that way of thinking, don’t you think?

TechTV alumni just wanted a place where we could all come together and funnel our independent efforts. “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts” keeps ringing through my head – not just our existing content, but NEW stuff (and NEW faces) as well. Leo Laporte and I have done our best to set the stage for UndoTV.

The blogger Steve Borsch commented in a previous thread: “So, who decides what gets ‘on’ UndoTV? Who the talent is? What emerges?” The UndoTV talent base is starting with the former ZDTV / TechTV staff, previous show guests, and vetted friends. Without a base of quality content, we’d be nothing more than a video portal clone.

Everybody is welcome here.

The community (you) will determine the direction of our efforts. Certainly, some former TechTV talent has gone on to do fantastic productions far outside the realm of the tech industry. Everybody is welcome to help us undo the idea of television – helping reinvent the way community can influence the active development of a site, its content, and its superstars.

You are tomorrow’s network. You control the horizontal – and the vertical, too. As such, we only want to see your own creations here. If you want to upload someone else’s content, please do so elsewhere? It’s the community’s job to keep this community clean, cool, and collected. We hope you take that responsibility to heart.

Expect, in short time, new features and functionality, new ways to interact, and new ways to find a passionate audience for your own talents.

Yours Digitally,

Leo Laporte Chris Pirillo

And with that, Undo.tv gets a good start on the way to being a central web location for technology and technology programming on the web, specifically the endeavors of TechTV Alumni and their new projects! The site is broken up into audio, video, photo, and text categories to accomodate a waide range and variety of projects and content to be uploaded, so it looks like they have their bases covered.

Chris and Leo have a lot at stake with this new network, and a lot of content worth delivering. Here’s hoping that when the official launch comes, Undo.TV is a robust network that can be a central locale for all manner of project from TechTV Alumni. No worries though, we’ll still cover it all at TechTV Forever at the same time!

Revision3 Gets A Makeover, and Adds Podcasts!

rev3 logo

The Revision3 website, located at [ http://www.revision3.com/ ] is sporting a whole new look, more applicable to the whole “network” feel that they’re going for. The site is much more attractive, and has nice thumbnails of each show right next to the show name, title, and the show notes for each show are still right on the front page. Additionally, on the right are “favorites,” or Revision3’s most popular podcasts, right there for quick viewing. The new site is pretty swanky, check out the screenshot below: (click the link for a larger view)

revision 3 screen small

Looks good, eh? In addition to the makeover for the site, the Revision3 crew have added a bunch of new podcasts and revived a bunch of old ones, for example, thebroken is back with a vengance and a whole new episode after several years of being MIA, InDigital is back with new hosts Jessica Corbin and Wil Wheaton, and some new podcasts debuted, including a new Martin Sargent venture called Web Drifter, and a few podcasts that look interesting but aren’t Tech or TechTV related, like Mysteries of Science Explained and NotMTV, both of which expand the Revision3 network out of the traditional tech mold and into other interest areas. Looking good guys!

DL.TV Gets a Facelift!

dltv logo

With comments like “This site is so beautiful I might cry,” and “The new website is great! I love it!!! Keep up the great work. :)” you know it’s an excellent redesign. Seriously, the new look is incredible, and a really significant change over the last iteration fo the DL.TV website; from top to bottom the site looks different, and the content is much more accessible and easier to navigate than before. From the subscribe feeds on the left to the “Meet the Hosts” on the right, it’s all around much much better and a more rich site design.

Check out the screenshot below (click for a larger view):
