Pixel Perfect with Bert Monroy // Episode 2

In this second episode of Bert Monroy’s new podcast, we learn how photoshop isn’t just a photo manipulation, image creation, and design tool, but it’s also capable of helping you create animation! Seriously-with the right skills, what can’t you do with phtoshop? Bert shows you how to do some simple animation in this episode, how to do patterning and repetitive tasks, and overall makes the process easier than you might think it would be.

DL.TV // Episode 101

dltv logo

This week’s second episode of DL.TV isn’t quite as groundbreaking as episode 100, but it’s still a doozy. Patrick and Robert pick up on some of the week’s tech news and announcements, like AT&T DSL dropping its contracts, so you don’t have to sign up for a year or so just to get a competitive price, more sources of DRM-free music, and ways to boost your wifi range and power for pennies. Additionally, they chat about the horrific lack of HDMI for the XBox360, what to do with the old battery when Dell sends you a replacement, tons of viewer questions, and much much more.

CrankyGeeks // Episode 30

crankygeeks logo

Perhaps the best CrankyGeeks I’ve seen yet! On this week’s CrankyGeeks, a very very special guest! And no, it’s not John C Dvorak, although he’s definitely on the panel, as usual! This week, he’s joined by Sebastian Rupley, West Coast Editor, PC Magazine; Dan Farmer, CTO, Elemental Security; and Neil Gaiman, Best Selling Author, that you should all know, and if not, you desperately need to pick up his work!

Among the topics this week are the writing process, blogging in general, debunking myths with Snopes, and Neil Gaiman’s upcoming book, Fragile Things! Definitely check this one out.

DL.TV // Episode 100

dltv logo

Booyah! Episode 100! Congratulations, DL.TV!!

I can’t imagine it-it’s been 100 episodes since the beginning of DL.TV, since the very first episode. I can’t imagine my weekly routine without being able to catch two episodes every week, it’s that good. Definitely a great show, and worthy of running 100 eps. Here’s to hundreds more!

On this special 100th episode, Patrick and Robert thanks everyone for watching all this time, and Roger Chang shows us some behind the scenes action on how the show it put together and made. Some hot DL.TV wallpaper in response to a viewer question, will a $100 USD gaming mouse make you a better gamer, how to re-download your iTunes music from Apple if your hard drive dies (back up your data!) but you can only do it once, and much much more.

Also this week in tech news is Congress bans online casinos, the Free Software Foundation protests Apple’s DRM, and more. All this, and keep an eye out for a DL.TV meetup at the DigitalLife expo in New York next weekend!

MacBreak // Episode 22

macbreak logo

This week on MacBreak, Merlin Mann and Leo stand in for a quick tutorial on keeping your Macintosh desktop completely uncluttered and zen-like. Sounds good, eh? He uses the plain old Finder, and jazzes the system up with MenuShade and Sprited Away to complete the effect. It’s a short one, but a good one.

Inside the Net with Amber MacArthur // Episode 36

inside the net logo

Leo’s all on his own this week, save for the special guest this week-Ryan Norbauer of Lovetastic [ http://lovetastic.com/ ] which is pretty much what it sounds like-a personals site! But how does this fit in? It’s a personals site that embraces the interactivity and usability that you’ll see in all of the new generation of web sites and services that get to carry the “web 2.0” moniker; the site runs with Ruby on Rails, and it shows.

MacBreak Weekly // Episode 9

macbreak weekly logo

This week’s MacBreak Weekly brings Alex Lindsay, Jason Snell, Scott Bourne, and Jan Kabili to the table to chat, so we get some new and semi-new voices this time around! among the topics this week are primarily the massive DRM that’ll be all over Microsoft’s so-called “iPod killer,” the Zune (which apparently has wifi for absolutely no other reason than to share music and load your music up with DRM, whether it came with it or not…no downloading from their music store, no syncing wirelessly with your computer, nada), DVD Jon cracking and selling Apple’s DRM to other companies so they can produce content that’ll be protected and play on the iPod, and more.

This week on Lab Rats, Andy and Sean discuss one of the greatest debates of all time, right up there with cats v. dogs, Mac v. PC, and red v. blue: Cable v. DSL for your broadband needs!

The two take on the topic and flesh out the pros and cons of both types of internet access, and which one might be better for you in what circumstance, the different kinds of DSL and what might be better than what, and all in all help you make a more informed buying decision when choosing the ISP in your area for broadband, or for keeping an eye out for a better deal if you already have one or the other.

This Week in Tech [TWiT] // Episode 71

twit logo

Sorry for the delay in posting new podcasts! Things have been a little busy down here at TTVF HQ, but hopefully we’re back on track now to get your your podcasts in the order they appear! So, without any further ado, let’s get back to routine.

This week’s TWIT is called “Netcast Expo,” which is really just the Podcast Expo, but Leo’s still insisting on calling it “Netcast” instead of Podcast because of Apple’s supposed grab on the term “pod-whatever” or “whatever-pod.” Either way. This week’s hosts are Leo Laporte, Steve Gibson, Alex Lindsay, Scott Bourne, Doug Kaye, Denise Howell, and a host of podcasters… including Special Guest, Martin Sargent, all gathered around the table to talk about podcasting, podcasting news, meet some of the leading podcasters, and more.

Also among the topics discussed this week are Symantec’s having to quietly admit its prediction that Mac OS X would be flooded with viruses and spyware by now was wrong, and more and more people are turning to online video and video podcasts as a source of entertainment.
